What is FIRE?

FIRE stands for Financial Independence, Retire Early. It's a movement built on a simple idea: save and invest aggressively enough that your portfolio generates enough income to cover your expenses — forever.

The maths is straightforward. If you can live on 4% of your portfolio each year, you need a pot of 25× your annual spending. That's your FIRE number. Hit it, and work becomes optional.
